UPSTATE NEW YORK MASONRY CHAPTER UPDATE

Greetings Upstate NY MCAA Chapter Members. Following is our January 2026 update on chapter programs aimed at promoting masonry use in Upstate NY.

Lunch & Learns

Lunch & Learn programs were provided at MOSAIC Associates and SEI Design. Both firms are participating in the Masonry 101 series that consists of four separate presentations. The first two presentations cover the basics of CMU and brick while the last two presentations deal with proper detailing of CMU and brick.

Masonry Education Day

Masonry Education Day was held on January 15th, 2026. Ninety-three people registered for the event and seventy-two were able to attend. Mason contractors, masons, apprentices, architects, engineers, and industry professionals were on hand and completed four courses dealing with masonry installation and design.

BOCES Training Program

Upstate MCAA, National MCAA and BAC Local 2 are continuing to work towards the goal to implement masonry training within the building trades curriculum at are BOCES.
